Since the success of "Lille European Capital of Culture 2004", life in the city has been influenced by unprecedented and continuously-changing artistic and cultural events, driven by the association, lille3000, the organiser of these events. Thanks to big events such as "Bombaysers de Lille" in 2006 and "Europe XXL" in 2009, this creative momentum has been kept alive and helped create several cultural sites: "Maisons Folie", "Gare St Sauveur" and "Tri Postal", which were once part of the city's industrial fabric, have become the city's cultural landmarks.
Since 2004, the EDF Group has been an Official Partner of Lille's cultural events. The Group is also committed to supporting lille3000 with innovative urban energy solutions and artistic and social services. As an energy company committed to sustainable development, EDF provides lille3000 with solutions that enable it to hold energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly events.
At the "Maison de l'Energie Vitale" exhibition in Wazemmes in 2006, EDF presented the best eco-efficiency energy solutions to the inhabitants of Lille and the surrounding area. A total of 66 PV panels were installed at the Gare Saint Sauveur, one of the city's cultural centres. EDF also lit the façade of the regional daily newspaper's head office in the Grand Place during the "Bombaysers de Lille" and "Europe XXL" celebrations.
