The trophies of the EDF Sustainable Design Challenge

Launched in 2010 by EDF group with the competition held by the French Agency for the Promotion of Industrial Design (APCI), it brought together ten schools for its first edition, including the prestigious ENSCI (France) and the Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design (UK).
The thirty-odd projects submitted demonstrate the participants' inspired creativity, ranging from zero-emission houses to an interactive game where energy-wasting is considered a noble cause, and the novel concept of eco-activism.
Eight winning projects have been selected by a jury of experts on 12 July 2011. The Jury consisted of, in particular:
Elsa Francès, Director of the Cité du Design in Saint Etienne,
Tom Raftery, one of the first European thinkers in the fields of infrastructure, energy and Smart Grids,
Per Meilstrup, Director of the "sustainable development" section in the Danish weekly publication Mandag Morgen and
John Thackara, Senior advisor on sustainability to the UK Design Council.
The selected projects will have the privilege of being exhibited at the EDF Pavilion at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, of which the Group is an official and sustainable development partner.
