Providing a source of low-carbon energy, water is at the heart of EDF's role as an energy provider. This is why we have chosen to promote water sports, heavily represented at the Olympics, which demand both energy and competitiveness, as well as courage and self-sacrifice.
We contribute to the development and growth of water sports by sponsoring major events such as the EDF Swimming Open, which brings together the world's best swimmers every year. In addition, we sponsor swimming champions like Alain Bernard, Yannick Agnel and Camille Muffat, rowing champion Thomas Baroukh and Tony Estanguet in canoeing-kayaking.
In direct partnership with our business lines, in particular hydroelectric production, the Group lends its expertise in water resource management, for example through the water releases that allow canoeing and kayaking to be practiced in France. The Pagaies Couleurs training method deployed in partnership with the FFCK helps to teach those practicing the sport about safety, knowledge and protection of the environment throughout France.
